1. How Living Trusts Work: Grantor/Trustor: 

YOU create the trust and transfer assets into it. 

Trustee: You, or a person you choose, manage the assets according to the trust's terms. 

Beneficiaries: Individuals or entities who will ultimately benefit from the trust.

Assets in the trust can be distributed directly to beneficiaries without going through the often lengthy and costly probate process. 

Privacy: Trusts offer more privacy than wills, as probate is a public process. 

Incapacity Planning: You can name a successor trustee to manage the trust if you become incapacitated, avoiding the need for a conservatorship.

Wills only go into effect after you die and require probate.
